Why Florida sliders fail
Grit. Every opening to a lanai or pool deck eats sand, pet hair, and pollen. Rollers flatten. The door starts riding on the frame instead of the wheel. You lift and shove. The lock no longer lines up, so you throw the security bar across and stop using the latch. Rain sits in the track. Cheap rollers rust. Vinyl and aluminum sills get out of square after years of that shove. The sliding screen — the one that is supposed to keep the bugs out when the glass is open — jumps the rail and gets bent the first time someone forces it. None of this means you automatically need a new door. A lot of Bradenton sliders are fine once the rolling hardware and the track are brought back. We will tell you if the frame or glass is the real problem instead of selling you a roller kit you will fight with.
What we repair
Rollers. This is the usual fix. We pull the panel (carefully — these doors are heavy), replace the rollers with hardware that can live in this climate, set the height, and test the slide. Tracks. We clean the channel for real, not a broom pass. Dented or worn track gets repaired or replaced so new rollers have something round to sit on. Locks, latches, and handles. Mortise locks that do not throw, handles that spin, keepers that moved when the door dropped. We align the panel first, then the lock. Adjusting a latch on a door that is sitting low is how you get a “fixed” door that still does not close. Sliding screen doors. New screen, new rollers, re-squared frames. If the glass door is finally smooth and the screen still binds, you will not use the screen. We treat them as a pair. Mesh options match the rest of the house: fiberglass, pet mesh, no-see-um. Pet doors. Some owners want a pet flap in a panel rather than teaching the dog to wait. We can talk through whether the door or a lanai screen panel is the better place for it. We are a screen-and-aluminum shop that lives on sliders. We are not a 24-hour glass replacement chain. If the insulated glass is fogged or the panel is shattered, we will say so and will not pretend a roller job fixes broken glass.
What a visit looks like
You describe the door: which wall, one panel or two, does it lock, does the screen work. Photos of the track help. On site we operate the door, look at roller access, and price the parts. Many Bradenton sliders are a same-visit repair. Older or unusual hardware may need a parts run — we would rather come back with the right rollers than install whatever is in the van. We work in occupied houses. Sliders are the opening to the pool. We keep the opening controlled, we do not leave a panel leaning where a kid can walk into it, and we sweep the track so you are not grinding our leftover grit.
