A patio that is not screened in this climate is a furniture storage area. You buy the chairs, you eat out there three times, and then the mosquitoes — or the no-see-ums, or the lovebugs — take the lease back. Over the Top Screens installs patio and porch screens for homeowners in Bradenton, Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, Palmetto, and nearby Manatee and Sarasota County. This is custom work. Openings are rarely the size the big-box kit thinks they are. Jared Freddes measures, builds, and installs from our Bradenton shop at 2901 42nd St W. Family-owned, over 20 years in business and 25 years in the trade, Fully insured, no subcontractors. Free estimates. Same-week service on most jobs that are not a full custom cage. New screen vs. fixing what you have
If you already have a screened patio or lanai and it is just tired, start on lanai screen repair. If the screen is around a pool, that is a pool enclosure rescreen. This page is for putting screen where there is none — or replacing a porch setup that was never built right. We see three kinds of “we want a screened patio” calls: 1. Open patio, existing roof. Columns and a slab are there. We design panels and doors to close it in without making it feel like a cage unless you want a cage. 2. Old porch screens that were stapled, glued, or framed in wood that rotted. We move you to aluminum that will survive the wet season. 3. Homeowner kit that almost worked. Channels that do not match, spline that popped, a door that never latched. We rebuild it so it operates. If what you really need is a new aluminum structure — a true enclosure, not panels on an existing roof — that conversation is aluminum screen enclosures. We will not pretend a few screens will replace a structure.
How we build a patio screen job
Measure twice. Florida patios settle. We measure each bay. We do not copy the neighbor’s width. Build square. A lot of frames are built and splined in the shop so the mesh is stretched on a bench, not on a ladder over your grill. Field-fit happens when the opening is already there and only the skin is new. Doors that people will use. A screened patio with a door that drags becomes a patio you walk around. Closers, latches, threshold, and a kick plate that can take groceries. Mesh for how you live.
- Fiberglass — default for most patios. You can see out, air moves, it is what most of Bradenton already has.
- Pet mesh — lower panels, or the whole job, if the dog thinks the patio is a launch pad.
- No-see-um — tighter weave for evenings when the gnats own the yard, especially toward the water.
- Aluminum mesh — when you want more toughness and can live with the look.
We match color to the house as much as the opening allows. The goal is a patio that looks like it was always part of the house, not a kit bolted to it.
Porch screens, too
The old site had a separate porch-installation URL. Porches and patios are the same trade here: screen, aluminum, a door that shuts, mesh that survives the sun. If your front porch is eating you alive at 6 p.m., say porch when you call. Same shop, same materials. Window openings on the same wall often get done in the same trip — see window screen repair. If the slider onto the patio is the reason you stopped going outside, add sliding glass door repair.
What to expect on install day
We protect floors and furniture. We keep the opening as weather-tight as the job allows while we work. Scrap mesh and old frames leave with us. You should be able to sit out there the same evening on a straightforward panel job. Larger enclosures take longer; we will say that up front, not on the last afternoon. HOA paperwork in places like Lakewood Ranch is your process; we will give you what the association usually wants from a contractor (description of work, materials) so you are not guessing.
Why call a Bradenton shop
You can order rolls and fight the spline yourself. Plenty of people do, then they call us when the first rain slackens the panel. We already have the channel sizes, the spline diameters, and the ugly surprises (out-of-square posts, rusted fasteners, a slab that is not level) priced into how we look at the job. Jared will tell you if a simpler repair is enough. That is the reputation we want in this town — not a bigger invoice. Call 941-414-0077 or fill out the form. Tell us patio or porch, the city, and whether you already have a roof. Over the Top Screens — Bradenton, family-owned, no subcontractors. —
