Lanai Screen Repair

A Florida lanai is not a decoration. It is where you drink coffee, watch the weather roll in off the Gulf, and try to eat dinner without becoming the dinner. When the screen is torn, sagging, or full of holes at dog height, the mosquitoes and no-see-ums take the room back. Over the Top Screens repairs and rescreens lanais in Bradenton and the rest of Manatee County from our shop at 2901 42nd St W. This is hands-on work. Jared Freddes — master craftsman, over 20 years in business and 25 years in the trade, family-owned shop — pulls the old mesh, reads the frame, and puts the lanai back in service. No subcontractors. No “we’ll send a crew next month.” Free estimates, and most jobs go on the calendar the same week. Call 941-414-0077 or send a few photos on the contact form.

What actually fails on a Bradenton lanai

West Bradenton sun cooks fiberglass. Afternoon storms slap the panels. Salt air off Palma Sola and the bay does not help the spline. Add a Labrador, a grandkid with a soccer ball, or a lizard that punched through a brittle panel, and you have a hole that will only get bigger. Typical calls we get from around 34205, Bayshore, Cortez Road, and the neighborhoods off 42nd Street:

  • A corner peel where the spline shrunk and popped out of the channel
  • A cat- or dog-sized rip at the bottom rail
  • Screens so chalky and stiff they crack when you touch them
  • A door panel that will not stay latched because the screen door sagged
  • One “I’ll tape it for now” patch that turned into four

Tape is not a repair. It holds for a week and then collects pollen. If the rest of the mesh is still healthy, we can replace a panel. If the whole lanai is oxidized and tired, a full rescreen costs less than doing it twice.

What we fix

Panel rescreen. We remove the old screen, clean the spline channel (the gunk in there is why new screen fails early), stretch new mesh, and roll in fresh spline so the panel is drum-tight. Lanai doors. Sagging screen doors, worn closers, bad latches, and the bottom that everyone kicks. We rebuild or rescreen the door so it shuts. Frames and kick plates. Bent or corroded aluminum at the base, loose fasteners, a kick plate that took a chair. If the structure is the problem, stretching pretty mesh over it is a waste of your money — we will say so. Larger aluminum work lives on our aluminum screen enclosures page. Pet doors in the screen. If the dog is the reason you keep calling, install a pet door instead of another sacrificial panel. Related work we often do on the same visit: window screen repair for the openings that feed the lanai, and sliding glass door repair if the slider into the lanai is grinding.

Mesh that belongs in this climate

We do not show up with one roll of whatever was on sale.

  • Standard fiberglass — what most Bradenton lanais already have. Good airflow, takes UV reasonably well, the right call when pets are not part of the story.
  • Pet mesh — heavier, harder to blow through. If you have a dog that “helps” you open the lanai, start here.
  • No-see-um (fine mesh) — tighter weave for gnats. You give up a little breeze; you gain evenings you can actually sit through, especially closer to water.
  • Aluminum mesh — tougher, different look, used when the opening needs more abuse resistance.

Spline size has to match the channel. Wrong spline is why a DIY rescreen looks fine on Saturday and is flapping by Thursday. We bring the right diameter.

How a visit goes

You call or use the form. We look at the lanai — in person on most jobs, from photos if the problem is obvious. You get a straight price: this many panels, this mesh, this door hardware, this is optional. We tell you what needs fixing and what does not. On install day we protect the floor, pull the old screen, rescreen, check doors, and haul the scrap. You should be able to use the lanai that evening. Fully insured. Same-week service on most Bradenton lanais.

Local, on purpose

We are not a statewide brand with a Bradenton landing page. The shop is here. Jared lives the same weather you do. That is why we talk about spline and UV instead of “outdoor living solutions.” If you are in Lakewood Ranch, Palmetto, or Sarasota, we run those jobs too — pool cages in Lakewood Ranch are a weekly route. A full pool cage is a different animal than a house lanai. If the screen is around the pool, see pool screen repair. If you never had a screened patio and want one, see patio screen installation.
